Military Medal 'East of YPRES at POLYGON WOOD on the morning of 28th September several enemy posts were left in the vicinity of our lines having escaped our artillery barrage. This N.C.O. went out alone the farthest distance of all and approached a large party. he was fired on and immediately fired back, killing four. The remainder, over thirty men, surrendered and Corporal Munday brought them all in without escort. The conspicuous bravery and boldness displayed by this N.C.O. had great moral effect on the enemy and set a very fine example to the remainder of the platoon who were watching his action. He was later on called upon to take charge of his platoon and the way he took hold of the situation was most commendable. I consider him worthy of special recognition.'
