Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuus gallantry and devotion to duty. When moving forward in rear of the attacking troops to establish a Battalion Headquarters, it became evident that a group of enemy dug outs had been passed over. He cleared these with the aid of a battalion runner, rushed a "pill box" and captured the 28 occupants. Later he captured a party of the enemy with two machine guns.'
