Found guilty, 9 April 1917, of (1) drunkenness while on active service; (2) being beyond the limits fixed by his Commanding Officer in that he was found in Salisbury without a pass: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2 and admonished.

Proceeded overseas to France, 22 May 1917; marched into 5th Australian Divisional Base Depot, France, 23 May 1917.

Proceeded to unit, 11 June 1917; taken on strength of 50th Bn, 16 June 1917.

Admitted to No 13 Australian Field Ambulance, 16 September 1917, and discharged to unit the same day (ear examination).

Admitted to No 3 Australian Field Ambulance, 4 October 1917 (otitis media); transferred to No 10 Casualty Clearing Station, 4 October 1917; to No 22 General Hospital, Dammes-Camiers, 5 October 1917; to No 6 Convalescent Depot, Etaples, 22 October 1917; to No 5 Convalescent Depot, 25 October 1917; marched into 4th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Le Havre, 8 November 1917.
