'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Whilst on outpost duty, an enemy post was seen moving up at dusk. Watching his opportunity, this man let drive with a Lewis gun, and then rushed forward to investigate, capturing one light machine gun and a British Lewis gun, and found four dead enemy.'
