Military Medal 'North west of POZIERES on night of 8th August he advanced with 15th Battalion, and took up a position with his gun. He did not receive the word to retire when 'D' Company 15th Battalion retired. He remained in this position until 4 a.m. on 11th August, though the whole time subjected to heavy shell fire.'
