Military Medal 'During the attack North of ROSIERES on the 9th August 1918 Private PERCIVAL was a member of a Lewis Gun team in the front line. Shortly after the advance started all the remainder of the section were knocked out, PERCIVAL carried on alone carrying magazines and spare part bag as well as the gun through the heavy barrage of artillery and intense machine gun fire. When his portion of the line was helf up by machine gun fire he pushed forward and engaged the enemy machine gun causing the check. He was successful in knocking out the crew and though he had drawn heavy rifle fire on himself, he carried on and held the enemy fire down enabling his platoon to advance. He showed a splendid example of courage and devotion to duty throughout the operation.'
