Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the period 16th September to 11th November, 1918. This Non Commissioned Officer as leader of a Lewis gun Section, on the 1st September, 1918, near MOISLAINES, directed his Section against two enemy machine gun crews, putting them both out of action, and capturing their guns; thus enabling the rest of his platoon to advance. He has been present with the platoon since March, 1918, and has always led his Section thoroughly and well, with utter disregard for personal safety, and always with a cheerful disposition.'
