Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at LE PEUPLIER near CASESTRE on 29th April, 1918. The enemy concentrated a heavy shell fire on the billet occupied by the Headquarters, 2nd Australian Field Artillery Brigade. Direct hits were obtained in the first few rounds and several later, killing two other ranks, and badly wounding three officers and several other ranks. Farrier Sergeant PETERS formed one of a party organised to rescue the wounded. Although under continuous shell fire he gave great assistance in this work. He attended to the wants of the wounded and afterwards gave further assistance in carrying them to a place of safety.'
