Military Medal

'During the operations on 8th August, 1918, east of HAMEL, while in charge of bearer squads clearing the Regimental Aid Posts, he showed great courage and determination under heavy enemy shell fire, he directed his men and organised their work, ensuring that the wounded were carried out of the shelled area without delay. By his example he inspired his men and greatly assisted in the rapid evacuation from the Aid Posts. Again on the 12th August, 1918, he displayed fine qualities of leadership under heavy enemy shell fire.'
