Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an attack. Though wounded early in the attack, he led his men with great gallantry to their objectives, which he consolidated most rapidly. He succeeded in protecting the flank of his battalion, which had been left exposed owing to a counter attack. His great energy and courage were a splendid example to the company.'
