Military Medal

'This N.C.O. was in charge of a party of Sappers and Infantry on the night of 2nd April, 1918, wiring in front of front line strong-points near DERNANCOURT near Albert in close proximity to the enemy. His energy and cool direction of his men, and his cheerful devotion to duty under heavy enemy Machine Gun fire and very adverse conditions, enabled this important work to be satisfactorily and expeditiously carried out, thus undoubtedly saving many casualties.'
