Military Medal 'During the operation of 26th September, 1917, near ZONNEBEKE this man acted as a runner to Advanced Headquarters of the Machine Gun Company. He displayed great devotion to duty by voluntarily taking on the extra duties devolved upon the runners when half of their members had been made casualties. At midday on the 26th September, 1917, when a counter attack was impending he did most valuable work in guiding a party of ammunition carriers into the line through a heavy barrage.'
