Wounded in action, 25 April 1915 (gun shot wound, head); transferred to Alexandria, 30 April 1915. Invalided to England, 17 May 1915; admitted to 2nd Western General Hospital, Manchester, 29 May 1915. Discharged from No. 1 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 9 September 1915 (unfit).

Commenced return to Australia on board 'Suevic' from Plymouth, 8 October 1915 (gun shot wound, head); discharged, 6 January 1916.
