Medals

Meritorious Service Medal

'For devotion to duty and valuable services rendered between the end of March last and 16th September, 1918. Acting in the capacity of Corporal Despatch Rider, this Non Commissioned Officer has done work of the greatest value, and by his unceasing energy and endurance has set a splendid example to all those with whom he has worked. During the operations on the SOMME since March he has been daily on the road at all hours, and very frequently under most trying conditions, he has displayed such initiative and skill that his work has materially assisted in maintaining a most valuable and reliable means of communication. During the rapid advancement of the line Corporal SHAW invariably located units in their new promptness and reliability worthy of the highest commendation.'
