Military Medal 'At MONT ST. QUENTIN near PERONNE during the attack on the 1st September, 1918, this N.C.O. had charge of a Stokes Mortar. Advancing with the attacking Infantry he got his gun into temporary positions, when they were held up by machine guns, and used it with good effect. On at lease six occasions during the day in order to neutralise enemy machine gun and snipers nests, he bravely fired his gun from most exposed positions, being continually under heavy machine gun and shell fire. The shooting was excellent and his work of great assistance in the operation.'
