War service: taken on strength, B Squadron, Heliopolis, 9 March 1916. Found guilty, serapeum, 15 January 1917, of being absent without leave from 1330, 11 January, to 1430, 13 January 1917: awarded 4 days' confined to barracks and forfeited 3 days' pay. Marched out to Australian Mounted Division, 21 May 1918; marched in to 11th Light Horse Regiment, 15 July 1918. Admitted to 66th Casualty Clearing Station, 16 July 1918 (orchitis); transferred to 76th Casualty Clearing Station, 17 July 1918; to 24th Stationary Hospital, Kantara, 18 July 1918; to 14th Australian General Hospital, Port Said, 19 July 1918; to Rest Camp, Port Said, 31 July 1918; to Training Regiment, 15 August 1918; rejoined 11th Light Horse Regiment, in the field, 30 August 1918. Wounded, 25 September 1918 (crushed chest and nose), and admitted to 4th Light Horse Field Ambulance; transferred to 31st General Hospital, Abbassia, 11 October 1918; discharged on 14 days' leave, 19 October 1918.
