War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney, 10 February 1917; disembarked Plymouth, England, 12 April 1917. transferred to 62nd Bn, 28 April 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 18 October 1917; taken on strength, 2nd Bn, 24 October 1917. Wounded in action, 8 November 1918 (shrapnel wound, scalp and left shoulder), and admitted same day to 2nd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 2nd Australian General Hospital, Boulogne, 9 November 1917; to England, 17 November 1917, and admitted same day to Cambridge Hospital, Aldershot; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 22 January 1918; discharged on furlough, 1 February 1918, to report to No 2 command Depot, Weymouth, 15 February 1918.
