Military Medal 'On the afternoon of 14th May, 1918, near VAUX-SUR-SOMME, this soldier, during a heavy concentrated bombardment on the Battalion position, on his own initiative went out and personally attended to 6 men who had become casualties, and directed many others to a place of safety. His coolness and utter contempt for personal danger was most inspiring, and his prompt action was undoubtedly responsible for saving the lives of many of his comrades.'
