Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion in going, under heavy fire, to the assistance of an observer, whose aeroplane had fallen in an exposed position near the enemy's trenches, and who was wounded. He carried him to a place of safety. Later, although wounded, he remained on duty in an advanced position until ordered away.'
