Military Medal

'During the operations from 29th September to 2nd October in the vicinity of BELLICOURT, this man's services as a runner are worthy of the highest praise. He conveyed messages under heavy shell fire and displayed untiring energy and obeyed all calls with a cheerfulness rarely equalled under such trying circumstances. It was greatly due to his efforts that a proper liaison was maintained between Company Headquarters and Battalion Headquarters.'
