Military Medal 'In the attack on the 9th August, 1918, at FRAMERVILLE, near AMIENS, the advance of the party of Infantry with which he found himself was temporarily held up by enemy Machine Gun fire. Owing largely to Sergeant Brain's daring reconnaissance and the skilful handling of his gun by which three enemy Machine Guns were silenced the party was enable to go forward. In an attack again on the 11th August when his section officer was put out of action Sergeant Brain took charge of the guns. He continually exposed himself to rifle and Machine Gun fire in his efforts to get his guns into suitable positions on the objective.'
