Military Medal 'On the 4th July, 1918, during the attack on enemy trenches east of HAMMEL, Sapper VAN De PLASCHE was a member of Forward Brigade Signal Section. While attempting to establish their position they came under fire of an enemy machine gun. Sapper VAN De PLASCHE immediately rushed the gun, capturing same and taking three prisoners. By his conspicuous gallantry and disregard of personal safety under heavy fire he set an excellent example to the other members of his section in maintaining his lines and enabling communication to be kept with the forward Units.'
