'For conspicuous gallantry and initiative during operations West of BELLENGLISE on the night 18th/19th September, 1918. during a night attack on the Hindenburg Line a large party of the enemy were holding out in the centre of the objective. Private WALKER with two men bombed along the trench and after very severe fighting he captured the position, taking many prisoners and two machine guns. It was owing to his splendid courage and dash that the situation was quickly cleared up.'
