Military Medal 'At HOOGE, FRANCE, on 20th September, 1917, during the attack on GLENCORSE WOOD and POLYGONVELDE WOOD Sgt. WANTLING after his Officer had become a casualty, took charge of the platoon and although badly bruised and slightly wounded led it forward from the Assembly positions to the final objective. His marked courage and devotion to duty cannot be too highly praised. He took charge of the Company wiring party and under heavy artillery fire completed the work which assisted greatly in resisting counter attacks.'
