'With [223] Private LOCKYER, G.H,. was located in isolated position in the extensive underground workings at Russell Top, Anzac, within very short distance of enemy sappers, who could be heard working. Post they held were one of danger and responsibility and both men showed pluck and endurance of a high order during 12 hours continuous duty in the evacuation operations.'
