In July and August, 1917, near WARNETON he again led his gun team without personal fear and set a fine example to all around him, of personal bravery, under heavy enemy fire. On October 4th, 1917, near PASSCHENDAELE, although wounded in face and arm he continued to fight his gun, and was instrumental in repelling the enemy from the cemetery near PASSCHENDAELE.'
