Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in an attack. Single handed, he attacked an enemy concrete blockhouse, which was holding up the advance, and captured it, with ten prisoners. He showed the greatest initiative and determination throughout the engagement.'
