Other details from Roll of Honour Circular | On 5 September 1924 he married Carrie Edna Storey and had two daughters, Jessie and Dorothy and a son John. He was elected to the Queensland State Wheat Board as a growers' representative in 1928 and served for 25 years. Was Chairman of the Board from October 1946 to August 1947, and the Wheat Board Representative on the Executive of the Queensland Council of Agriculture from 1933 to 1939. He was also Chairman of the Sorghum Growers' Co-operative Association. Bill was elected as the Country Party member for the Federal Division of Maranoa in the House of Representatives in April 1951, and held the seat for over fifteen years until he retired from parliamentary life in 1966. |
