Military Medal 'For conspicuous courage and splendid devotion to duty on the night 4th/5th October, 1918, at JOINCOURT at 0130 an Order had to be despatched to Batteries for an operation taking place at 0535 5th October, 1918. Gunner WILLIAMS was sent with these urgent orders and knowing the importance of getting these despatches delivered quickly, persevered through a heavy barrage and delivered all his despatches. His personal courage and strong sense of duty under these perilous conditions was instrumental in enabling the Batteries to fully cooperate in the important barrage required to fully support the Infantry in their attack on BEAUREVOIR.'
