War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney on HMAT 'Osterley', 8 May 1918; disembarked Liverpool, 10 July 1918; marched into 5th Training Bn, 11 July 1918, and allotted to 20th Bn. Transferred to 9th Training Bn and taken on strength, Fovant, 26 July 1918. Found guilty at Fovant, 17 August 1918, of being absent without leave, 12.00 am, 15 August 1918, to 4.30 pm, 16 August 1918: awarded 4 days' Field Punishment No 2; forfeited total of 5 days' pay. Proceeded to France through Southampton, 17 October 1918; marched into Australian Infantry Base Depot, Rouelles, 18 October 1918; moved out to field, 19 October 1918; taken on strength of 35th Bn, 20 October 1918; detached to Australian Infantry Base Depot, Harve, 16 February 1919.
