Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and good work as linesman during the final offensive. In the attack on the Hindenburg line at Bellicourt on 29 September, 1918, he took messages to the rear, under heavy fire, when other communication had failed, and subsequently maintained communication. At Brancourt, on 9 October, he rendered very valuable assistance with a mobile section, and subsequently returned under considerable fire with a report.'
