Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and resource during operations near Peronne on 1 and 2 September, 1918. When his officer was killed, and his section suffered heavy casualties he took charge of the remainder, and went forward under heavy machine gun fire to reconnoitre the positions, where he then moved his guns to meet the enemy counter attack.'
