War service: Egypt, Western Front Awarded 7 days' confined to camp for gambling, tel el Kebir, 22 June 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 1 August 1916. Found guilty, 13 August 1916, of being absent from 1415 parade: forfeited 1 day's pay. Taken on strength, 9th Field Artillery Brigade, Larkhill, 10 November 1916. Proceeded overseas to France, 20 March 1917; taken on strength, 12th Field Artillery Brigade, 28 April 1917, and posted to 45th Battery. Appointed Driver, 26 August 1917.
