Military Medal 'On the 20th October, 1917, east of WESTHOEK when the 114th Battery was just going into action the Battery position came under very heavy fire from 4.2S Howitzers during which Gunner MURRAY was wounded and a dump of ammunition set on fire. No. 1931 Sergeant BURRIS, 114th Battery with hesitation, immediately carried Gunner MURRAY to a place of safety and the organised a party to put out the fire and isolate it from the remainder of the ammunition. This, by his promptness and skill he succeeded in doing thereby saving ammunition which was immediately required for the operation. His coolness and resource under heavy fire is worthy of special consideration. Awarded Military Medal 2nd October, 1917.'
