War service: Egypt, Gallipoli, Palestine Taken on strength, 2nd Light Horse Regiment, Gallipoli, 2 October 1915; to hospital, 25 November 1915; returned to duty, 9 December 1915; evacuated Gallipoli and disembarked Alexandria, 26 December 1915. Rejoined 11th Light Horse Regiment, Heliopolis, 22 February 1916. Wounded in action at the second Battle of Gaza, 19 April 1917 (gun shot wound, left leg, fractured shinbone); taken prisoner by the Turks; died in the Scottish Mission Hospital, Nazareth, 20 May 1917 (gun shot wound, enteritis, septocaemia).
