Proceeded overseas to France from 8th Training Bn, Hurdcott, 23 July 1917; taken on strength, 35th Bn, 12 August 1917. Letter 'A' affixed to Regimental Number. Wounded in action, 14 October 1917 (gun shot wound, ankle, right arm, left lower lip), and admitted to 11th Australian Field Ambulance; transferred same day to 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train, 15 October 1917; to 10th General Hospital, Rouen, 16 October 1917; to England, 6 November 1917, and admitted to Central Military Hospital, Winchester, 7 November 1917 (shrapnel wound and severe bronchitis); to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 9 January 1918; discharged on furlough, 15 January 1918, to report to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 29 January 1918.
