Medals |
Military Medal 'During operations at POLYGON WOOD east of YPRES on 19/22nd September, 1917, Cpl. CHINNER did excellent work throughout, but most especially when consolidating. His example and coolness encouraged those about him and through his ability and example in that portion of the line we were in a position to resist the enemy bombardment and were prepared for a counter attack. At night he was in charge of a listening post and through his untiring efforts the enemy were unable to approach unawares and do us harm. Again he, under extremely heavy machine gun fire, went out and directed the relieving Battalion to our line with an absolute disregard for his own personal safety.'
