Military Medal Work near Mont St. Quentin on 2 September 1918. On the night of 2 September 1918, East of Mont St. Quentin, near Peronne, this man did excellent work in maintaining lines under heavy shell fire. The lines were continually being broken, but Sapper Clark remained for over three hours in the midst of the enemy barrage after his comrade had been wounded, mending the breaks, and showing an absolute disregard to the danger of his position, until the lines were once more through. Throughout the operation he set a fine example to the men who were working with him. Recommendation date: |
