Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When in charge of a strong point he drove off single handed a hostile patrol twenty strong, and prevented them from locating the position of his post. On another occasion he took part in an important raid, and has always set a splendid example of coolness under heavy fire.'
