Found guilty, 3 October 1916, of being absent without leave from 2400, 28 September 1916, to 1630, 1 October 1916: deprived of 10 days' pay; total forfeiture: 13 days' pay.

Tried by District Court Martial, Hurdcott, 23 December 1916 on charges (1) wilfully allowing to escape a person committed to his charge; (2) losing by neglect his regimental necessaries, value £2/0/2; (3) being absent without leave from 5.30 pm, 9 October, till 7.30 [am?], 24 October 1916; pleaded 'Guilty'; found 'Guilty': awarded imprisonment with hard labour for 1 year and stoppage of pay until the value of regimental necessaries lost was made good; total forfeiture of pay: 165 days.

Unexpired portion of sentence remitted as from 14 February 1917, and released from Aldershot Detention Barracks.

Found guilty, 5 March 1917, of being absent without leave from 8.30 am, 25 February, to 11 am, 3 March 1917: awarded 21 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited a total of 29 days' pay.

Proceeded overseas to France, 20 March 1917; taken on strength, 32nd Bn, in the field, 25 March 1917.

Found guilty, 3 April 1917, of being absent without leave from 1800, 1 April, till 1230, 2 April 1917: forfeited 2 days' pay under Royal Warrant.

Found guilty, 19 August 1917, of being absent without leave from 8 amto 12 noon, 18 August 1917: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited 7 days' pay.

Admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 27 November 1918; discharged (for trial), 2 January 1919; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 37 days.

Tried by District Court Martial, Warwick Square, London, 14 January 1919, on charge of resisting an escort whose duty it was to apprehend him in that he at Belfast on 9 November 1918, while being arrested by L/Cpl D. Lee of the MFP resisted the arrest by kicking and struggling; pleaded 'Not Guilty'; found 'Guilty': awarded 6 months' detention; 90 days' detention remitted, 28 January 1919.
