Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During an attack by the enemy, all communications being cut, this officer was ordered to get in touch with the left company, and send back information of the general situation. He had to pass through heavy artillery and machine gun fire, but he succeeded in getting in touch with all concerned. To get in touch with the right company he had to pass over 300 yards of ground exposed to machine gun fire. His liaison work was most useful.'
