'During the operations at MONT ST. QUENTIN, N.E. of PERONNE on 31st August 1918, this soldier handled his lewis gun with great judgment throughout the operations. by resolute action and disregard of danger, he personally put two heavy German machine guns out of action killing or taking prisoners the entire crews.'
