Meritorious Service Medal 'In recognition of the valuable services rendered with the forces in EGYPT.' Second description reads: 'For devotion to duty during recent operations from 19th September (TUL KERAM) to 30th September (DAMASCUS). Farrier ENGLISH at all times cheerfully carried out his duties. Many animals lost their shoes owing to very rough country, and at every halt during a march, Farrier ENGLISH would go through unit shoeing horses and often worked all hours through night. He would also go to other units and volunteer (when other units were without farriers) to shoe horses. Owing to his excellent work during these operations many horses were thus kept fit for hard work, when most urgently required.'
