Proceeded overseas to France, 27 March 1918; marched into Australian General Base Depot, Le Havre, 30 March 1918. Taken on strength, 2nd Light Railway Operating Company, 5 April 1918.

Admitted to 58th Field Ambulance, 5 April 1918: successively treated for bronchitis and rheumatism. Discharged to Australian General Base Depot, Le Havre, 3 July 1918; rejoined unit, 26 July 1918. Hospitalised, second occasion, 14 June 1918; rejoined unit, 20 September 1918. Hospitalised, third occasion, 13 November 1918; rejoined unit from hospital and after leave in England, 26 February 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board 'Karmala', 1 July 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 17 August 1919; discharged, 11 September 1919.
