Military Medal 'This man was one of the F.O.O.'s party with the 1st Battalion 118th American Regiment as accompanied it in the attack on 8th October 1918 near BRANCOURT. He was with his officer in the Front Line. On two separate occasions when it was necessary to send important information as to the situation to his Brigade Headquarters and it was difficult to get it back because of the hostile shelling and rifle fire he volunteered to take the despatches and by himself successfully go them through a heavy barrage with great promptitude on each occasion returning through the fire to his Officer in the Front Line. He showed great bravery and determination and rendered valuable services.'
