Meritorious Service Medal 'For consistent good work and devotion to duty for two years. He has always proved courageous and reliable works N.C.O. particularly on work under shell fire for protacted periods. he was in charge of timber work at ANZAC HOUSE road at YYRES. He particularly distinguished himself on the laying of a plank road in the YPRES Salient from BIRR X Roads to BELLEWARDE Ridge in September, 1917, when job was heavily shelled at irregular intervals. During the period April to October, 1918, he did excellent work on construction of bridges and dugouts. He showed excellent leadership in the attack on MONTBREHAIN on 5th October, 1918.'
