Wounded in action, 7 August 1915 (gun shot wound, upper left calf), and admitted to 39th Field Ambulance, and transferred to 41st Australian Casualty Clearing Station; to HS 'Delta', 8 August 1915, and transferred to No 2 Australian General Hospital, Ghezireh, 12 August 1915.

Commenced return to Australia from Suez on board HT 'Beltana', 17 September 1915; discharged (medically unfit), 16 February 1916.
