Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in charge of the brigade signal section. He took over and successfully maintained communication with the forward units, and personally supervised and established a forward brigade cable head. Next night his able management enabled his forward section to open up communication with units and brigade headquarters within 30 minutes of the commencement of the barrage. The rapid transmission of information throughout the operations, under most difficult circumstances was a tribute to the excellent arrangements made by him.'
