Military Medal 'At 4.45 a.m. on the morning of the 8th August, 1918, No. 2316, Private E. HARRIS was a Stretcher Bearer with one of the forward parties on road repair work between HAMEL and CERISY, and did extremely good work bringing in the dressing both our own and infantry casualties in face of heavy shell and machine gun fire, setting to the remainder of the Company, a fine example of courage and coolness under most trying circumstances. Later in the day when the cross roads at about 2,000 yards west of CERISY were heavily shelled, he again showed great gallantry and coolness, dressing the wounded, while the shelling was still in progress.'
