Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty whilst in command of a post during a hostile attack. Under cover of a very heavy barrage, the enemy, in strength, approached to whin bombing distance of the post. Owing to casualties there were only twenty men at his disposal, but by a vigorous and determined resistance he succeeded in driving the enemy back.'
